FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dallas – March 7, 2005
Universal Conversion Technologies (UCT) today announced the release of a new version of its flagship product, Data Conversion Architect (DCA). For DCA 4.1 UCT has made significant improvements in architecture, usability, and functional portability.
The overall goal has been to consolidate the gains made from the reconfigured interface (DCA 4.0.1) as a stable platform for further development.
Major Enhancements include:
Automated installation of DCA and related components, including DCE, DART, and other conversion utilities, is now managed through an automated installation procedure using InstallShield™. Typical installation times have been reduced to just minutes, with the additional advantage of increased confidence in the integrity of the installation.
Multi-Byte support in generated code means that DCA handles fields containing the graphic and national type characters used in processing double-byte character sets. This enhancement was developed at the suggestion of our clients and prospects in the Asia-Pacific market.
DCE memory management improvement routines of the, which parses Conversion maps and generates compilable programs for DCA, increases system performance during the mapping process and reduces workload on the DCA Server.
DCA database option is selectable by the customer upon installation. The supported database choices are Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MDSE) or Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The databases of existing DCA installations are automatically converted to the user’s selection.
Importation of SQL Data Definition Language statements allow for describing Source and Target systems not only via COBOL copybooks, but also by their SQL definitions. COBOL copybooks can be generated from these DDL statements to build your conversion system.
In terms of Excel processing, DCA now offers processing to:
Provide a format to create Maps in Excel.
Additional improvements include normalized DCA architecture, inclusion of samples and utilities along with the basic installation, the addition of a data viewer feature, as well as over fifty other separate usability enhancements and fixes that have improved the interface format, increased speed, corrected minor problems, and smoothed operation.
According to Jerry Kaul, UCT’s Chief Marketing Officer, the new release consolidates the gains made with the new Windows-based navigation introduced last year. “This release marks an important step for UCT and UCT’s clients,” he said recently. “We are transitioning to a fully automated server-based package.”
“This transitioning involves folding all the different UCT utility packages into the main DCA architecture,” Jerry continued. “The ultimate result becomes an integrated package, a one-stop solution. At the same time installation gets much easier and future upgrades will become transparent.”
